What's the difference between "Monosashi" and "Jougi"?
「ものさし」・・・ものの長さを図る道具。そのため、目盛りはものさしの一番端が０になっています。
"Monosashi"・・・A tool for measuring the length of things. Therefore, the scale has 0 at the very end of the ruler.
「定規（じょうぎ）」・・・筆記用具やカッターなどを使って直線を引いたり、カットしたりする道具。目盛りの０が一番端だと線を引きにくいので、少し中に入ったところが０になっています。
"Jougi"・・・A tool for drawing or cutting straight lines using a pen etc. or a cutter. If 0 on the scale is at the end, it is difficult to draw a line, so 0 is a bit inside the scale.
