「マジで！？」
使ったことはありますか？「本当に？」という意味で、現代語のような印象をもっていませんか？

実はこの言葉、
江戸時代
からすでに使われていた言葉なのです！
その語源として、「真面目（まじめ）」を略して「マジ」とした芸人の業界用語という説が有名のようです。
江戸時代の人が、「まじ」を使っている場面を想像すると、少し面白いですね♪

It means "Really?" and this phrase sounds like one of modern language.
But to tell the truth..., this phrase has been used since
Edo Era!!
As the etymology, it seems that the theory that "Majime(Serious)" is abbreviated as "Maji" is a famous term for entertainers.
It's a bit interesting(and maybe funny?weird?) to imagine a scene where people in the Edo period are using "Maji" x))
