言語は時代と共に変化をしています。
日本語も例外ではありません。

面白いことに、今の「ハヒフヘホ」の発音は昔はありませんでした。
奈良時代では発音は「パピプペポ」だったのです！
平安時代では発音は「ファフィフフェフォ」だったのです！

つまり、現代日本語の「母（はは）」は奈良時代では「パパ」と発音するということですね。
ややこしいですね。笑
これはひらがなの成り立ちに関係があります。
「は」は「波」という漢字からできました。古代中国語音では「ぱぁ」なので・・・。

Interestingly, the current pronunciation of "Ha Hi Hu He Ho" did not exist in the past!
In the Nara period, the pronunciation was like "Pa Pi Pu Pe Po".
In the Heian period, the pronunciation was like "Fa Fi Fu Fe Fo".

For example, the modern Japanese word "mother(Haha in Japanese)" was pronounced "Daddy(Papa in Japanese)" in the Nara period x)
It's complicated, isn't it? :)
This has something to do with the origin of hiragana.
"は" is made up of the Chinese character "波". Also it's pronounced like "paa" in ancient Chinese sounds.

Please be careful when you do time travel to the Nara period :p
